Best vacuum for hardwood floors & pet hair: Use a suction-only canister or cordless vacuum with a soft horsehair bare-floor brush head (beater bar OFF) and a dry microfiber dust pad.

How to clean hardwood floors (flat microfiber spray mop): Mist an NWFA-approved pH-neutral wood cleaner (Bona Pro or Pallmann) onto a flat microfiber mop pad and wipe with the grain.

No wet string mops, steam mops, vinegar, or oil soaps: Standing water cups oak edges, vinegar dulls satin urethane, and oil soaps prevent future recoating.

Sweep grit from micro-bevels: Wide planks have subtle V-groove bevels. Vacuum along the plank seams weekly so kitchen crumbs and grit don't collect.

Atomized spray cleaner + dry buff: Use a low-moisture hardwood spray cleaner that evaporates within 30 seconds so moisture never sits in the end-joints.

No abrasive green scrub pads, ammonia, or acrylic restorer: Factory aluminum-oxide finishes are ultra-hard; acrylic waxes create milky peeling patches.

Dry microfiber dust or vacuum (beater bar OFF): Pick up grit and pet hair before damp mopping so sand never grinds into the wear layer.

Warm water + pH-neutral LVP cleaner: Mist lightly and mop with a flat microfiber pad. For textured grain, gently brush scuffs with a soft nylon pad.

No steam mop on LVP or laminate floors: High-heat steam mops force vapor into click-lock seams and warp vinyl or laminate cores, while wax polish leaves a cloudy haze.

CRI-approved vacuuming 2–3x weekly: Slow, overlapping passes pull dry soil out before shoes mat it into the yarn base. Use suction-only on loop pile.

Blot inward — never rub in circles: Press a clean white cotton towel onto spills from the outer edge inward, apply a neutral enzymatic spotter, and blot with cool water.

No soapy rental machines or bleach spotters: Unrinsed detergent leaves a sticky film that attracts dirt twice as fast right where you cleaned.
